The Element of Design Form

The students in grades 8-12 have been studying the Element of Design Form. Forms can and should be viewed from many angles. When you hold a computer part or a small sculpture, you are aware of their curves, angles, indentations, extensions, and edges -their forms. The students have designed robots using old computer and VCR parts. Many students enjoyed exploring the inside of the computer mouse. Then they used the parts as shoes for their robots.

Medieval Castles

The 7th grade World History classes have begun a study of the Middle Ages. Bringing history to life with some hands-on fun, students have built castles and prepared presentations to learn about life during Medieval times. Students have discovered the importance of the castle keep, castle defense, strategies for castle attacks, the role of the church, the food and clothing of the nobles and peasants, and the armor and coat of arms. As their study continues, the students will explore the life a knight, learn the ancient codes of conduct, and what life was like inside a medieval castle.

Thirty-three castles were located on the balcony of the gymnasium for viewing by students and parents.
